Untreated sump pump failure leads to mold

One of the realities in the restoration industry is we come across cases of hoarding on a regular basis. When hoarding is combined with water damage it creates a nasty mess.
In the case of this customer, she suffered a sump pump failure that caused her basement to partially flood with water. When we arrived it was not even possible to get our technicians into the basement because of the high amount of contents.
The water had been allowed to dwell for a few days before she called us so the basement was already smelling of mold. Mold can grow in as little time as 72 hours.
In this photo, you can see our technicians starting a contents pack-out before we can address the wet structure.
