Melting Snow Can Flood Your Home in Colorado Springs

SERVPRO's Fast Response Mitigates Flood Damage to Your Property

The weather has certainly improved lately, and fall is almost winter. Although we're only expecting rain one day in the next ten locally, the threat of flooding is still present for Colorado. It doesn't take long for something to roll out of the mountains and surprise us.

The only way to avoid flood damage in Colorado Springs would be to build on top of Almagre or Cheyenne Mountain. Since we all know that's not going to happen, the smartest thing you can do next is to call us here at SERVPRO. As a locally owned franchise with a nationwide support network, we are uniquely qualified to help our community through floods and other disasters with some of the best equipment and training in the restoration business.

When a flood does happen, calling us is the safest thing for you to do. Don't try to turn off the power or anything else. It is too easy for a fatal accident to happen around electricity and standing water. Our inspectors can do that and identify everything else the technicians on our response team need to accomplish.

The first step is to isolate and remove the water. This task may involve sandbagging if needed or it could be as simple as blocking pipes. The response team will then bring out commercial grade portable pumps, sump pumps, and vacuums to start water removal. We tailor each piece of equipment we bring to each task. From a living room with three or four inches of water to a completely flooded basement, we have the right machines for the job.

Next, our technicians use specially designed water extractors that pull moisture trapped inside of carpets and wood flooring. When the last ounce we can get has been removed, then it's time for the dehumidifiers. These commercial machines are designed to draw water molecules from the surrounding air, returning moisture levels in the affected rooms to normal. If needed, we will also use heaters in each room to speed up the drying process. The sooner we get this accomplished, the sooner you can return to your home.

From Cheyenne Mountain State Park to Pike's Peak and the Air Force Academy, this is a great place to live. SERVPRO of Northern Colorado Springs / Tri-Lakes is proud to call this our home and willingly assist our neighbors in dealing with flooding and returning them to their homes. Call our offices today 24/7 at (719) 434-4626 for emergency help.
