Colorado Springs Fire Damaged Commercial Building
Lightning struck the roof of this commercial structure in Colorado Springs and ignited it. After the firefighters had extinguished the flames, we arrived and started to remove the smoke damaged stored products within the building for cleaning. The following morning, when the roof was cool and secure, we placed several tarps over the exposed areas to keep out bad weather and wild animals. The interior suffered little damage except for a large amount of soot and smoke deposited on the rafters. We used soda blasting to remove most of the residue. It took several passes, but it was sufficiently cleaned to allow for a prime coat of paint to restore a better look. We set up several ozone machines the first evening upon leaving, to capture the noxious odors circulating in the air. We finalized the job with a thermal fogging, (before the painting) to ensure a safe and pleasant indoor air quality.
